Stress Management Best Practices

Around 1 in 5 adults in America deal withsome type of mental illness. That is not even including the many more who dealwith anxiety and depression.

 

Just about all of us will deal with somelevel of anxiety or depression throughout our lives. And there is no doubt wehave varying levels of stress and anxiety within each day..

 

Even if everything is going great in life,we still have mouths to feed and bills to pay. Responsibility inherentlycarries with it some levels of stress. And if those levels go unchecked, theybuild and build and build.

 

Mental health is just as important asphysical health, AND it plays a role in your physical health. So we need to beactive in taking care of it.

 

Yes, training, eating well, and moving arebodies are a fantastic start to improving our mental health, but I'm a firmbeliever that we also need dedicated practices.

 

Personally, we love meditation andjournaling. There are different levels to meditation, but in it's simplestform, it's simply following your breath. Distractions are normal, but we simplycome right back to focusing on the breath. This teaches us mindfulness (livingin the present moment). Increasing mindfulness will increase your levels ofhappiness exponentially.

 

Journaling is a way we get some feelingout, but the aspect we take on it is gratitude. The main purpose of what we aredoing is expressing a few things we are grateful for. On a good day, this iseasy. On a bad day, it allows us to come back to center and remind ourselves ofthe blessings we have.

 

There are countless other options withinthe mindset pillar you could utilize.. Breathing techniques, therapy, etc..Choose at least one that fits your life and your needs best, and be consistentwith it.

 

Stack the building blocks every day and youwill be amazed at what they turn into.
